Many different food products contain a variety of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, tryptophan. Some of them are spinach, turkey, seeds and avocados. Although the transmitters in previously mentioned ingredients are only present in traces, it has been proven that the combination of good food really elevates the mood. Certain food, which belongs to the group of “comforting”, even encourages the release of endorphins, a very powerful mood repairer.

Allergens and Sensitivity

Sensitivity to certain foods can make you at least feel bad, as it carries along symptoms such as bloating, acne and lethargy. If you do not feel best lately, without any particular reason, try to exclude all allergens for a week. Than, gradually, one by one, introduce them back. This way you will discover what it is that bothers you and your organism. The most used and known allergens are gluten, dairy, eggs, and nuts.

Lack of Vitamins and Minerals in the Body

Lack of vitamins and minerals in the body can also affect the mood and, therefore, it is important to have a healthy diet – daily intake of foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, phosphates, magnesium and others are very important components for overall health of our body and spirit. If you do not introduce your organism with enough of these vitamins and minerals, you will eventually become apathetic and chronically tired. Bowel Functioning

The connection between the bowel and the brain is unbreakable. One always affects the other. In digestive system there are many things, known as psychobiotics, which are not only affecting human weight and immune system, but also mood. These represent a subspecies of probiotics and, simplest said, they are bacteria situated in the food. Their job is to help spreading chemicals that improve mood all the way to brain. Researches have shown that regular consumption of these probiotics affect better mood and its constancy. Therefore, you should take more yogurt, kefir and sauerkraut with your meals.

Physical Activity

In addition to all the healthy diet things mentioned above, keep in mind that great influence on the mood has regular physical activity. Move and be active as much as your obligations allow you. If you do not have time for the gym, at least walk home from work or spend more time walking with your dog. Both of you will enjoy it.
